Hello there lovers of #MentalMonday♥️🧠 and all things mental health. Today is a special day for all of us invested in mental health advocacy and realise the importance of lobbying for quality mental health. As dawn breaks on this World Mental Health Day, let us pause and breathe,
To reflect on the paths we’ve walked, the hearts we’ve grieved. We may also want to reflect on our own personal journeys as none of us are exempt from mental health issues.

One significant hurdle many of us face is the comparison between our life timeline and those of our peers. This phenomenon—let’s call it, “timeline depression”—can rob us of our joy, preventing us from appreciating the progress we’ve made. And what a beauty that mental health day comes towards the end of the year, a time when we love to sit and reflect on the progress we have made over the past months.

We scroll through the lives of others, vibrant and bright, yet in those images, we often lose sight of our own journeys, unique and profound. In the shadows of “shoulds,” our joy can be drowned. Timeline depression whispers, “You’re not enough,” or “You have not sone enough.” In a chorus of voices, it can feel so tough, so exhausting, so disheartening. Self-doubt creeps in, casting shadows of gray. Yet we’ve all weathered storms to reach this day, and this must be the highlight of our thoughts. 

So today, lift the veil of despair, dare to hope! And let’s celebrate the victories we’ve quietly shared. For each step we’ve taken, each wound that has healed, is a testament to strength that cannot be concealed. Look back at the mountains you’ve climbed in your heart, each scar is a story, each challenge a part. Write down your triumphs, both big and small, for in these reflections, we truly stand tall. In the garden of life, let gratitude bloom, for the sun that shines bright, and the dark that makes room. Each moment, must be treated like a treasure, each breath, a sweet song, in the tapestry of existence, where we all belong.

Forget the timelines that others impose, society and the world will always have expectations, which we do not even know who set those for us. Forge your own path where your spirit can rise. What dreams stir your soul? What fires ignite? Chase after your passions, let them take flight. Share your heart’s burdens, let your truth be known. In the sharing of stories, seeds of hope are sown. You’ll find that in the chorus, you’re never alone, battling this timeline depression. It is in the sharing of these unsung sorrows that we will realise we are not alone, battling this timeline depression. If the shadows linger, the feeling of inadequacy persist, and the weight feels too much, know it’s okay to seek help, to feel that gentle touch. A guiding hand can light the way, and help you find peace in the light of day.  Remember it’s ok not to be okay, for one some days to be alive, is on its own, courage.

So here’s to the journeys, both winding and straight, to the moments of joy, and the lessons of fate. Let’s honor our stories, our struggles, our zeal, and the fight we have put in. For in the canvas of life, we each have a place, we all are a beautiful colour to be added, and make life beautiful. On this World Mental Health Day, let us stand tall, and celebrate our journeys, for we’ve risen through all. Embrace who you are, in this moment, be free, For the beauty of you is a sight to see. And as we celebrate, whispher a prayer and a gentle thank you to those who have walked this path of life with us and held our hands.
